Sarasota Partnership for Children
Committee |
Founded in September 2005, the Sarasota
Partnership for Children’s Mental Health (SPCMH) was a six year initiative
funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration
(SAMHSA). The SPCMH was comprised of community members, agencies, and families all working
together to improve services for young children with emotional, behavioral,
and/or mental health challenges and their families. The Coordinating Council
was formed to promote the sharing of resources and accountability across
agencies and programs serving children and youth, and to build community
capacity to provide effective, community-based services and supports that
are delivered consistent with System of Care principles. In preparation for
the conclusion of the SAMHSA funding, the SPCMH Coordinating Council
proposed the creation of the Sarasota Partnership for Children to support
the continuing efforts to improve the health and well-being of all Sarasota
County children and youth.
The purpose of the committee is to engage
existing providers, coalitions, and community members around improving the
quality of life for children and families in Sarasota, and improving the
effectiveness and integration of services and programs serving children and
youth. Membership is open.
The expected results: Children and youth are healthy, are ready to learn and
succeed, live in stable and nurturing families, thrive in safe and
supportive communities, and transition successfully into adulthood.
