Maintain and Restore Current Level of Funding for Health and Human Services Programs

The Community Alliance understands the Delegation’s call for no new funding requests due to the current economic climate. We do however feel strongly that the current level of funding for health and human services programs should be maintained. Programs such as Healthy Families, Early Start and Community-Based Care, which provide the only safety net for many of the families in our community who are in crisis, have absorbed reductions in funding over the past couple of years. These reductions, coupled with the increased demand for services resulting from the economy have pushed many agencies to a critical status. It is essential that current funding for all health and human services remain at the current level.
